ok, so it's been a while since i posted on this so i am going to run through everything...
Basically the sound and image i was given have made me think about machinery, so i wanted to mechanise what i was given and simultaneously abstract it even further from the original object/place. Having looked at other peoples work in the group, alot of people are "decoding" their image and sound, so in fleeting (perhaps foolish) thought i decided to go in the other direction. i.e. encoding it more, through a process of running my data from analog to digital over and over again. The final outcome is less of a concern for me as this is an experimental piece. So, how have i ran it from analog to digital etc? Well here is a short timeline of whats gone on...
Analog (physical object) > Digital (recorded on dictaphone and camera, then abstracted by cutting audio down and pixelation) > Analog (pixel square colours displayed on TV (Cathode Ray Tube therefore analog) with sound playing on loop)>Digital (recorded on HD camcorder>Digital (put on DVD)>Analog (recorded onto VHS)>Digital (re-recorded onto HD Camcorder.)>Digital (projected onto mechanical objects for video)...
that is pretty much it, i am just editing everything together now, i will upload the videos all to youtube so you can view most of the steps...
not really sure how strong this all is, but never fear, it looks nice....
