ok, so it's been a while since i posted on this so i am going to run through everything...
Basically the sound and image i was given have made me think about machinery, so i wanted to mechanise what i was given and simultaneously abstract it even further from the original object/place. Having looked at other peoples work in the group, alot of people are "decoding" their image and sound, so in fleeting (perhaps foolish) thought i decided to go in the other direction. i.e. encoding it more, through a process of running my data from analog to digital over and over again. The final outcome is less of a concern for me as this is an experimental piece. So, how have i ran it from analog to digital etc? Well here is a short timeline of whats gone on...
Analog (physical object) > Digital (recorded on dictaphone and camera, then abstracted by cutting audio down and pixelation) > Analog (pixel square colours displayed on TV (Cathode Ray Tube therefore analog) with sound playing on loop)>Digital (recorded on HD camcorder>Digital (put on DVD)>Analog (recorded onto VHS)>Digital (re-recorded onto HD Camcorder.)>Digital (projected onto mechanical objects for video)...
that is pretty much it, i am just editing everything together now, i will upload the videos all to youtube so you can view most of the steps...
not really sure how strong this all is, but never fear, it looks nice....

The story so rolls on...
and i can't say it's an easy piece of cake...the culmination of todays work is this. An idea. Basically what I'm thinking of doing is that im going to create an animation of my pixels (just the each colour flashing up), put it on dvd, play it on my tv, then film that, so u get the pixels coming up. Over the top im probably going to have a voice talking about machines. Then over the top of the colours of my pixels i am going to film and overlay the workings of a clock (after much deliberation with myself, and housemates i have decided this is the ultimate machine. One we cannot escape, a time keeper. Hence the name god is in the machine). I'm not sure about making a film though. I wanted to cause i thought it would be nice if we had a range of results, not just sculptural and graphical...
What do you guys think?
What do you guys think?
Rethink...
After a little thought and research i have decided that the colour of frequency is 1. a patented idea, and 2. very complex.
So, after sitting here for literally a day, squinting at my photo and looping my sound, i have decided that my sound is very mechanical. I am going to draw inspiration from this. so far i have an urge to create a film entitled, Deus Ex Machina... i'll keep you posted...

colour of sound...
i have been looking into the possibility of working out the colour wavelength of each block of colour and then somehow applying that colour to the frequency of the sound. My sound is so indecipherable that it is causing no inspiration as of yet, so im trying to look at it from a less literal angle.
